Total War: Rome II - Desert Kingdoms Culture Pack is a premium simulation title from developer Creative Assembly. It is a DLC for the popular strategy game, Total War: Rome II. This pack introduces additional content in the form of new factions for players to control and experience.

Building upon the experience of Total War: Rome II, the Desert Kingdoms Culture Pack lets players experience fighting in the sand and its unforgiving conditions that will affect the tide of battle either to their advantage or against them. They also need to deal with the specific traits unique to the landscape.

Of blood and sand

The Total War series is one of the best strategy games ever, offering players deep strategy and large-scale battles across multiple eras and civilizations throughout time. Despite being one of its older releases, Total War: Rome II is still one of its best iterations, and with this DLC, avid fans have even more reasons to come back to its diverse world.

Total War: Rome II - Desert Kingdoms Culture Pack introduces four factions under The Kingdom of Kush to the fray, namely the Meroe, Nabatae, Saba, and Nubidia. Although all are tribes that hail from the land of the sand, they each have special characteristics that make them stand out from one another when it comes to base and unit management.

Speaking of attributes, these desert kingdoms all share collective cultural traits that apply to all of them, and these are increased morale during sand battles and traditionalism which penalizes any form of advanced research. Unfortunately, this new addition to the base experience has resulted in some game balance issues. While not totally game-breaking, these should be addressed as soon as possible.

A good addition

All in all, if you're a fan of the base game and are looking for more, Total War: Rome II - Desert Kingdoms Culture Pack is a good DLC that adds something new. The four new factions are interesting and add a new dimension to the core gameplay with their unique traits. Despite the issue mentioned above, this is still worth checking out and seeing for yourself.
